In Viddalba it is possible to
discover the landscape’s magnificence and historical witnesses
of an appealing territory, its geographical position allows to
move from the “Asinara Gulf” white
beaches to the surrounding mountains.
The centre offers a holiday in which the relaxing seaside’s life
goes along with the possibility of inland adventurous journeys,
which give the unique opportunity to catch new appearances and
undertones of a land not fully exploited in its full
naturalistic, historical and cultural potentialities.
Ancient and modern churches are evidence for the profound
religiosity of this spot of “Gallura”.
From the little church of “San Gavino”
on the edge of “Punta Salici” there
is a magnificent view of the “Asinara Gulf”.
The 13th century church of “San Giovanni
Battista”, near the natural park of “San Giovanni” and
the sanctuary of the Virgin Mary “A Li
Reni”, has a (refreshments area).
Nearby the church of “San Leonardo”,
numerous relics have been found of which a Roman Necropolis.
Since the houses and streets ruins it is thought that in this
area was located the ancient city of “Vill’Alba”.
The archaeological museum of Viddalba
exhibits the relics found in the digging of the Punic-Roman
Necropolis of “San Leonardo”,of
which the “unicum” “La Stele degli Sposi”
is remarkable. Moreover, prehistorical relics are exhibited in
the museum.
Nearby, immersed in a wooded landscape, are “Casteldoria”
thermal baths, which are known since Roman and medieval periods. |
